When we talk about a “better way,” we’re not speaking in abstracts. We’re claiming our baptismal calling—to seek Christ in all persons and strive for justice and peace.
In today’s deeply divided world, these words carry new urgency. It’s easy to dismiss those who think differently, to draw lines between “us” and “them.” But the Cathedral’s A Better Way initiative is an invitation to do something radically different: to go deeper, to listen, to understand.
We’re committed to the audacious truth that every person—including those who may feel threatening to us or treat us as an enemy—is a beloved child of God.
We believe the path forward isn’t found in louder arguments or deeper divisions. It’s found in service, in listening, in choosing to see the dignity in those we’re told to fear.
That’s what it means to walk a better way. Finding common ground is never easy, but it’s the only road to the kind of civil dialogue our nation urgently needs. And this is not a time to wait for someone else to step in. It’s up to us to put in the daily work of loving our neighbors and acting for the common good.
With your support, this initiative is sparking honest dialogue and shaping a more compassionate future. Through sermons, forums, convening events and spiritual resources at cathedral.org/discover/better, we’re helping people connect across the divide, across the entire country and even across much of the world.
